Sustainability coordinator reports on resilience coaching, farmers’ market outreach and hazard mapping needs

Eric Simms, Sudbury’s Sustainability Coordinator, told the ESC that MAPC is lined up to develop the MVP 2.0 resilience coaches program; Eric will recruit coaches and prepare survey materials. He said a farmers' market is scheduled for spring and he is reaching out to health and social workers to connect lower-income residents to programming and backyard produce education.
Regarding the Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and Hazard Mitigation Plan, Weston & Sampson continue work and are exploring more current flood maps from BSC; access to BSC data would cost about $6,000. Simms asked whether ESC would be willing to cover the cost, possibly sharing it with the Conservation Commission; members asked for the BSC proposal to be circulated for decision at the February meeting.
Simms also said he is exploring community-solar partnership opportunities with Renewables Worldwide and will report back. Several items discussed earlier—solar canopy projects and air-quality sensors—were noted as having already been covered in the meeting.
