Staff reports water treatment plant on track for winter start; clinic framing advances after deep sewer hookup

A staff member told the Daggett County Municipal Building Authority that construction on the county's new water treatment plant is progressing and could begin processing water samples for a state permit this winter.

"The water treatment plant project is moving forward, steadily, scheduled to have outdoor concrete pads poured next week, weather permitting," the staff member said. They added that electrical and HVAC work "is supposed to be finished up next week," and that crews were "hopefully optimistic to be starting operations in December to get things disinfected and processing water for getting samples taken to get our state permit operated." They said, "fingers crossed, hopefully, by the 1st of the year, we'll be officially running that plant."

The Chair described related construction at the county clinic, noting crews ran sewer from a manhole near the fire station and encountered deep connection work. "They gotta be, what, 14 foot deep right up here at the top," the Chair said, and reported the road has caved off a couple of times during work. The Chair said the sewer hookup was "got it completed last night" and that framing and trusses are largely in place, with sheeting being installed.

Officials said the next steps for the treatment plant include finishing site concrete, completing electrical and HVAC, starting disinfection operations and taking samples required for a state operating permit; the plant would enter full operation only after permit approval. For the clinic, officials said change orders and construction change directives are expected as the project is refined.

The authority did not set new deadlines during the meeting; staff characterized the schedule as optimistic and contingent on construction progress and permitting.
