Officials report progress on water treatment plant and county clinic construction

Commissioners reported Oct. 28 that work on both the county water treatment plant and the Daggett County Health Business and Community Center is progressing, though recent weather and site conditions have caused delays and triggered change orders.
Regarding the water treatment plant, a commissioner said crews experienced a slowdown after a windstorm damaged lines and transformers, but the power company has restored lines and the contractor has completed backfill and outside plumbing and expects to install garage doors and begin interior work this week. “They had a little bit of a slowdown for a minute,” one commissioner said, noting the power company had to pull lines back up after the storm.
On the clinic/community center, commissioners said framing and backfill were largely complete and crews are preparing to install storm drainage that will carry runoff away from the building footprint. Several change orders are under review and one will be discussed in detail at the meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
Commissioners said they will review contractor costs for trash disposal with the town council to determine whether loads to the town dump should be charged at residential or commercial rates, and will report back to the authority after that conversation.
