Daggett County authority approves $351,255 change order to fix water intrusion under new community center

The Daggett County Municipal Building Authority voted Oct. 28 to approve Change Order No. 2 for the Daggett County Health Business and Community Center, authorizing $351,255.34 to pay for rock, waterproofing, fabric and geogrid work to stop water coming in under the building.
Commissioner (S3) moved to approve the change order, saying, “I guess I'll make the motion to approve change order number 2 for the work to mitigate the water coming in under the building.” Commissioner (S2) seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote with members saying “Aye.”
Commissioners and staff said the work is intended to take the building out of the wet footing condition and allow interior work to continue. A construction change directive already authorized the contractor to begin the necessary work so it would not be delayed, and the change orders formalize the cost adjustments. One commissioner explained that some items may be split between Change Order No. 2 and No. 3 and that the directive “puts a price to that construction change directive and then formalizes it to change the contract amounts.”
The board agreed to hold Change Order No. 3 for further review; commissioners planned a separate meeting to resolve outstanding questions and, if the numbers hold, to approve any additional change order at that special session. The authority did not provide a full, line‑item breakdown of everything included in Change Order No. 3 during the Oct. 28 meeting.
Next steps: staff will review items included in Change Order No. 3 with the contractor and bring clarified figures to the scheduled follow-up meeting for formal approval.
