Commission to use remaining CPA funds for cemetery stone cleaning; Revolutionary War kiosk sign due this month

The Sudbury Historical Commission on Feb. 10 reported plans to use remaining Community Preservation Act (CPA) funds to support historic cemetery stone cleaning and noted an imminent kiosk delivery for the Revolutionary War Cemetery.
Chair Chris Hagger said there is approximately $15,000 remaining in an old CPA article; Kim Burns will lead efforts to use those funds to assist with cleaning headstones at the town’s historic cemeteries, including work related to the Wheeler Stone. Mr. Hagger also told the meeting that the Sudbury Historical Society and CPC processes will be engaged on related grant items.
On signage, Mr. Hagger reported that Fossil Graphics expects to deliver the Revolutionary War Cemetery sign and base to the Sudbury DPW in February and noted that QR codes are still required for the kiosk.
Why it matters: Cemetery preservation preserves historic markers and local heritage; use of CPA funds requires appropriate CPC review. Commissioners noted Ms. Burns will provide an update on the 2004/2013 Cemetery Cleaning and Restoration Article and that Ms. Costa would update a 2015 Projects Article for CPC review at its March 4 meeting.
Next steps: Ms. Burns will provide a CPC update; required QR codes for the Revolutionary War Cemetery kiosk must be finalized before DPW installation.
