Sudbury Historical Commission approves Indigenous Cultural Landscape Study RFQ with amendments

The Sudbury Historical Commission on Feb. 10 approved, by unanimous vote, the final draft of a Town-wide Indigenous Cultural Landscape Study request for qualifications (RFQ) with amendments.
Chair Chris Hagger said Commissioner William Andreas had shared the final draft with members; Hagger moved to approve the RFQ with amendments and Vice-Chair Michael Wallace seconded. The motion passed 7–0 with Wallace, Hagger, Andreas, Durall, Greenstein, Burns and Katz recorded as voting aye.
Why it matters: An Indigenous Cultural Landscape Study can document and help protect sites and landscapes of significance to Indigenous communities within the town. Commissioners discussed billing arrangements for the project and noted that billing would be split into two parts.
The RFQ approval gives staff and the Commission authority to proceed with recruitment of a consultant under the terms agreed in the amended draft. The minutes record the approval vote and the expectation that the RFQ will move forward to procurement processes consistent with town practices.
