At its Feb. 19 meeting, the Yarmouth Finance Committee reviewed the FY27 budget calendar and next steps for the town's budget process.
Finance Director Jennifer Mullen told the committee the town plans a $35 million bond issue in April that is incorporated into the FY27 budget. Chair Richard Simon said he produced a general-ledger-based report pointing to potential savings that he said "would bring us back into a no-override position," though the transcript lists the preliminary savings figure as "$4.0" without specifying a unit or confirming it in the meeting.
Simon said the town is coordinating with the tri-board group and that the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District must vote its final assessment by March 13. The committee scheduled continued departmental reviews for Feb. 25 (including Cape Cod Tech) and a warrant review on March 4, and the Select Board public hearing on the budget on March 10.
Committee members emphasized continuing scrutiny of healthcare, pensions and other assessment items as staff reconcile recent changes in the town's retirement group assessment and premium negotiations. No formal vote on the FY27 budget or override was taken at the meeting.
