Feeley Field schematic due in December; commission signals Davis Field as CPC priority over Broadacre

The Sudbury Park and Recreation Commission received an update Dec. 8 on the Feeley Field project schedule and discussed Community Preservation Committee (CPC) prioritization for field projects. Assistant Town Manager Victor Garofalo said Gale Associates expects to deliver schematic design by Dec. 18, with a review meeting Jan. 6 and 75% design by the end of January; the town hopes to have a bid awarded by May 1 and construction in summer 2026.
Commission Chair Mara Huston and commissioners reviewed other CPC submissions. The commission aligned on keeping the Davis Field project as the priority over Broadacre and asked Victor to communicate that preference to the CPC. Laurie Eliason reported Rail Trail Advisory Committee concerns about slope issues that may affect related work.
The commission also reviewed the Haskell bathroom renovation proposal (approximately $66,000) and agreed to a motion to approve the project; the motion passed unanimously. Victor said demolition and electrical work for the Haskell scope would be completed by the Town rather than outsourced.
No further actions on Feeley were taken pending schematic design and the scheduled review meetings early next year.
