Sudbury Housing Trust discusses regional HOME plan, housing roundtable and Camp Sewataro visioning

At its Feb. 12 meeting the Sudbury Housing Trust received an informational update on the HOME FY27 Annual Action Plan and discussed plans for a public Housing Roundtable and town-owned properties.
Liz Rust, director of the Regional Housing Services Office, described the HOME FY27 proposal: Sudbury participates in a 13-community HOME consortium and expects a small allocation (about $7,500–$9,000). The consortium proposes a pooled regional tenant-based rental assistance program among six RHSO HOME communities (Bedford, Concord, Lexington, Natick, Sudbury and Wayland) intended to increase the usability of limited funds; the pooled program is expected to roll out in July. No Trust action was required on the informational update.
Separately, Jack Ryan summarized the Roundtable working group’s work and proposed convening a public Housing Roundtable forum in early June (potential dates discussed included June 4; Liz Rust noted she was not available on June 11). The Roundtable is intended as an informational, non-decision forum where the Housing Production Plan would be presented and stakeholders such as the Sudbury Housing Authority and the Trust would give brief updates. Adam Burney will lead initial framing and finalize dates to avoid conflicts with other town schedules.
The Trust also heard an update from Janie Dretler on the Liberty Ledge (Camp Sewataro) property: the Town acquired approximately 44–46 acres in 2019 and entered a management agreement with Camp Sewataro LLC; the first five-year contract extension approved in 2022 runs through September 2027. The Select Board has created a short-term subcommittee to compile acquisition and management documents for public review. Dretler reported a proposed Town Meeting warrant article (currently $20,000) to fund a consultant for community visioning sessions; the Trust discussed that any future planning should include expertise in planning, zoning, finance, recreation, accessibility/disability and housing.
