The Sudbury Housing Trust voted Feb. 12 to authorize $1,500 to perform PERC testing and related contract work at 77 Hudson Road to determine septic feasibility and inform site design.
Director of Planning and Community Development Adam Burney summarized recent concept plan revisions (the house rotated and moved forward) and consultations with the Health & Community Services Director and the Department of Public Works. Health staff indicated soils at comparable sites had passed PERC tests and recommended testing; DPW offered equipment and staff time. Trust members discussed concerns about seasonal high groundwater, hydric soils and whether basements would be advisable.
The Trust approved the $1,500 expenditure by roll call vote: Carmine Gentile — Aye; Jack Ryan — Aye; Kay Bell — Abstain; Jessica Cerullo-Merrill — Aye; Gabe Ciccariello — Aye; Janie Dretler — Aye; Cynthia Howe — Aye; John Riordan — Aye. The motion was moved by Jack Ryan and seconded by Gabe Ciccariello.
The PERC testing is expected to be scheduled for July–August when drier conditions improve access and reduce impacts; the test will include groundwater modeling to inform design decisions such as basements and septic layouts.
