Sudbury committee reviews Chiswick Park parking license and Parkinson Field driveway design

Town Counsel has prepared a draft license agreement for land adjacent to the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail on Chiswick Park property to be used for additional rail-trail parking, Planning & Community Development staff told the Rail Trails Advisory Committee on Feb. 4. The draft agreement will be forwarded to the property owners next week, and staff said a Town Meeting warrant article to authorize a long-term lease is being prepared.
Marcia Rasmussen reviewed design work for Parkinson Field by consultant TEC. The proposed driveway and parking layout includes a 20-foot wide path from Hudson Road into the parking lot. Rasmussen said an easement will be needed from one abutting residential lot and that electric-service issues with Ti-SALES staff would need further investigation.
Rasmussen told members the Community Preservation Committee approved placing the Mass Central Rail Trail connections and parking-area application on the Town Meeting warrant but did not approve the Parkinson Field application for this year's warrant. CPC members encouraged resubmittal after a design solution and permitting have been completed.
Next steps: Town Counsel will forward the Chiswick Park license draft to the landowners and Planning & Community Development will pursue the Town Meeting warrant article; the Parkinson Field team will refine designs, pursue required permits and return to CPC for reconsideration.
