Ashville council approves donation, road striping; tables mobile app and pays bills

Councilmember Shirley Smith moved to approve the $2,500 donation to Ashville High School (St. Clair County Board of Education) for batting cage nets and field equipment; Councilmember Denise Williams seconded and the councilmembers present voted yes.
The council approved striping Greensport Road from Highway 231 to the four-way intersection for $2,932 for a single yellow reflective line using Highway Systems under the St. Clair County bid; Councilmember Denise Williams moved the measure, Councilmember Shirley Smith seconded, and the councilmembers present voted yes.
Councilmember Denise Williams moved to table the city mobile app item to the August 5, 2024 meeting; Councilmember Shirley Smith seconded and the motion passed. Mayor Derrick Mostella then asked for a motion to pay the bills due; Councilmember Shirley Smith moved, Councilmember Denise Williams seconded, and the councilmembers present voted yes to approve payment.
The council announced its next meeting is Aug. 5, 2024 at 6 p.m., with a work session at 5:30 p.m., and adjourned.
