PBC sets selection schedule for fire station outbuilding design; hears updates on several capital items

The Permanent Building Committee on Nov. 19 agreed on a process to select a designer for a proposed fire station outbuilding and received brief updates on other town capital projects.
The committee reported four architectural firms submitted qualifications for the fire station outbuilding design. Members agreed to form a designer selection committee composed of Craig Blake, Kay Bell and possibly Mr. Mann, asked members to complete individual reading and ranking by Tuesday, Dec. 10, and scheduled interviews for Dec. 17 and/or Dec. 18. The minutes note there are two potential locations for a single building housing at least three garages.
Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran also reported 50% design work on the Hosmer House roof with added insulation work under consideration (following a Historical Commission suggestion), and said Fairbank EV chargers should be completed by the end of the month. The DPW metal roof coating has been approved and is ready for SOLECT; a contractual issue related to an EPDM flat roof remains under discussion but no leaks were reported. Mobilization for the new Facilities staffing offices was noted to begin the following day. The minutes record approval of the Oct. 1 and Oct. 29 minutes and set the next meeting for Dec. 17, 2024, at 7 p.m.
Next steps include committee members completing rankings for the designer selection and conducting interviews for final selection.
