Corte Madera oversight committee approves FY24–25 Measure F report, asks clearer senior vs. youth spending breakdown

The Corte Madera Sales Tax Oversight Committee voted to approve the FY24–25 Measure F annual report after asking staff to clarify program reporting and adjust the letter to the town council to read “senior and youth programs.” The motion to accept the annual letter passed by voice vote after a brief amendment request.

Finance staff told the committee Measure F revenue for FY24–25 totaled about $4.5 million and presented line‑item spending: roughly $203,000 for disaster preparedness, a little over $2 million for flood control, $471,000 for debt service, about $170,000 for senior and youth programs and $2.4 million for streets. “Measure F revenue came in at about $4.5 million,” the finance director stated during the presentation.

Committee members said the packet and the draft letter were inconsistent in how they described program spending. Karen Lang asked whether the budget separates senior and youth expenditures and requested an explicit estimate or percentage breakdown in the next report. Staff said some costs—such as a pilot “Front Porch” program and a mixed aquatic contract—were apportioned between seniors and youth and that staff would refine the accounting and include an estimate in the report to council.

The committee approved the annual letter with a single edit to make the language consistent (to read “senior and youth programs” where appropriate). Committee members also asked that future reports include an explicit line or an added explanatory note showing the best available estimate of dollars or percentages for each constituency.

The committee’s approval advances the annual report to the town council; no formal roll‑call vote with tallies was recorded on the transcript beyond the chair’s call for “all in favor” and a verbal affirmation that the motion passed. The committee moved on to the next agenda item after the vote.
