Sudbury 250 Committee approves brochure plan, finalizes event layout and children’s activities

The Sudbury 250 Committee on March 18 approved a plan to produce an event brochure and refined logistics for Sudbury 250 Day, which organizers expect to hold in the spring.
Radha Gargeya, Sudbury 250 Committee chair, opened the virtual meeting at 7:03 p.m. and confirmed a quorum. Committee members reviewed a draft event map presented by James Goudie-Murray, Town of Sudbury management analyst, and agreed craft vendors will be placed in the parking lot behind Town Hall. Committee members also discussed on-site parking capacity and the placement of a ceremonial cannon; vendor registration was reported as low.
Christina Deignan, Sudbury Extended Day business manager, told the committee that Sudbury Extended Day will provide children’s crafts and projects, and that children’s craft tables will be located among the craft vendor area. Timothy Cobbett said two students will paint wooden cutouts for the event and that he will obtain plywood from the First Parish Church for those props.
Member John Neuhauser moved that Gargeya, Jan (surname not specified) and James Goudie-Murray develop a Sudbury 250 Day brochure containing a map, schedule and other event information. Tim Cobbett seconded the motion. Jim Wiegel, Timothy Cobbett, John Neuhauser and Radha Gargeya voted yes; the motion carried unanimously.
The committee reported additional Sudbury 250 merchandise has been ordered and received, and Gargeya said she read the Sudbury 250 proclamation at a recent Select Board meeting. Members also reviewed programming: Jasmine Goodspeed is slated to present on April 26, and Daniel Mandell is scheduled for May 31 with a talk titled "The Revolution and Native People in Southern New England." The committee made a few minor edits to the master schedule and said it will finalize the timeline soon.
The committee set upcoming meeting dates for April 1 (hybrid) and April 15 (virtual). The meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m. after a motion by Jim Wiegel and a second by Tim Cobbett that passed unanimously.
