The Sudbury Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission confirmed Isaac Tesfay as a current member at its remote meeting on Sept. 11, 2025, noting his email address issue has been resolved and that the commission now has one open seat.
Janine requested minutes from meetings prior to July and noted edits were needed to reflect Tesfay’s membership. Taylor moved to approve the August minutes and Plihcik seconded the motion. The roll call vote recorded affirmative votes from Tesfay, Steffey, Plihcik, Taylor and Khan; the minutes were approved. Uneke was briefly absent between 7:20 and 8:21 p.m., a gap the commission said did not affect quorum.
The commission listed two applicants to interview for the remaining vacancy: Lorena Jafarov and Kimberly Lezak. Safa was assigned to invite both candidates to interview. The commission asked members to attend the planned Oct. 9 hybrid meeting in person if possible to accommodate the scheduled police-station room booking.
The meeting adjourned after routine closure motions.
