Ashville council unanimously adopts FY2025 budget, waives fees for December holiday events

Mayor Derrick Mostella called the City of Ashville council meeting to order at 6:37 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2024. The council—Mayor Mostella and Councilmembers Adam Abernathy, Robin Bowlin, Edward Roscoe Lane, Shirley Smith and Denise Williams—unanimously approved the meeting agenda and minutes from the Nov. 4 meeting.
The council voted unanimously to adopt the FY2025 budget after Councilmember Denise Williams moved for approval and Councilmember Robin Bowlin seconded. The meeting record does not specify the budget total or line-item allocations.
The council next suspended the rules to consider Ordinance 2024-020, which would waive business license and permit fees for the Christmas Tree Lighting & Movie on Dec. 1 and for Christmas on the Square and the parade on Dec. 14.
