Board Policies Committee forwards four library and Title I policies to full board for preliminary approval

Chaplin — The Regional School District 11 Board Policies Committee unanimously voted Jan. 14 to forward four policies for preliminary approval at the next full board meeting, including three policies governing library materials, collections and displays and one Title I parental and family engagement policy.

The committee approved motions to review the following policies and to submit each for preliminary approval: 1312.3/6161.12 (Library Material Review & Reconsideration); 1312.4/6161.13 (Library Collection Development and Maintenance); 1312.5/6161.14 (Library Display and Program); and 6172.4/6161.31 (Title I Parental and Family Engagement). Each motion was made by Stacy Foster and seconded by Hayley Albert and was recorded in the transcript as “unanimously approved to be submitted for preliminary approval at the next Board Meeting.” The transcript does not record individual vote tallies.

Superintendent Andrew Skarzynski was directed to create a calendar prioritizing required and recommended policies to review for the remainder of the year; the committee did not specify implementation dates in the meeting record. The meeting began with a call to order at 5:23 p.m. and adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
