Planning commission extends stay of fines for 80 Marcy Road until April 2026

The Chaplin Planning & Zoning Commission voted to extend a stay on enforcement fines for the property at 80 Marcy Road until the commission's April 9, 2026 meeting after the zoning officer reported progress and the owner requested more time.

Zoning Enforcement Officer Jay Gigliotti presented recent photos and told the commission that several of the site's worst areas have been improved: clutter has been removed and a jet ski was gone. Gigliotti said some items remain, including truck caps and a truck body that need removal, and that a trailer with oil tanks had been declined by a junkyard because the holes in the tanks were not large enough. He recommended the commission extend the temporary stay through April to allow further cleanup.

Owner Joan Maclure, joined by her brother, said the family is working to address the issues and described plans to shelter recyclable cans and to remove remaining items. The commission moved to extend the stay of fines; Bob Dubos made the motion, Randy Godaire seconded, and the motion carried with the board voting in favor.

The extension preserves the current pause on fines while the property owner continues cleanup; the commission will revisit the matter at its April 9, 2026 meeting unless the owner completes the work sooner.
