Montgomery County Commission approves consent items, appropriations, vehicle sales and advertising contract

The Montgomery County Commission handled routine agenda and new‑business items in a single unanimous series of votes at its Nov. 4 formal session.

On the consent agenda the commission approved accounts payable and payroll checks as audited and ordered paid. The board approved miscellaneous appropriations to community agencies and education programs from discretionary and designated revenue funds; packet pages list individual allocations and the updated balances for each commissioner’s appropriations account.

The commission approved the sale of two decommissioned 2018 Ford PPV utility vehicles from the Sheriff’s Office to the Troy University Police Department at $7,500 each, per a memo from Sheriff Derrick Cunningham and an attached letter from Chief George Beaudry of Troy University Police Department requesting purchase. The motion to approve the sale was moved and seconded and carried unanimously.

Separately, the commission approved a contract with TierOne Media for outdoor digital advertising in support of the county’s 2025 Christmas tree lighting event. The contract lists specific digital placements and a net per‑period amount shown in the contract materials; the listed flight dates are Nov. 10–Dec. 7, 2025.

The commission also approved a budget change request (BC 2026‑1) to increase in‑house contract services by $44,000 (transfer from fund balance) to cover an increase in a contract with The Jones Group, as reflected in the budget documentation. Additional routine approvals included travel and training requests for county staff and law‑enforcement personnel; one sheriff travel memo notes that most or all costs are expected to be reimbursed through a grant after the conference.

All motions on the consent and new‑business items were recorded as carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
