The Rocky Hill Board of Education met on Oct. 17, 2024, at Town Hall Council Chambers and approved a set of routine items including past minutes, the 2025 Board meeting schedule and the Rocky Hill High School Class of 2025 graduation date. The meeting was called to order and staff reviewed statutory recordkeeping requirements for minutes under Connecticut General Statutes.
Board member Amber Tucker moved to take a five-minute recess; the motion was seconded by Jessica Loffredo and recorded as carried. Later in the meeting Tucker moved—and Loffredo seconded—to approve the minutes of the Sept. 19, 2024 Board of Education meeting and three committee meetings held Oct. 9, 2024; the motion passed, recorded in the minutes as "FAVOR: ALL MOTION CARRIED." The meeting record lists Chairman Steven Slattery and seven other Board members as present.
On the consent calendar, moved by Amber Tucker and seconded by Jay Chhabra, the Board approved the 2025 Board of Education meeting schedule and set Rocky Hill High School Class of 2025 graduation for Monday, June 16, 2025, at Central Connecticut State University. The consent calendar also included approved revisions to Board of Education policies #4020 (Prohibition of Sex Discrimination, Including Sex-Based Harassment — Personnel), #5120 (Prohibition of Sex Discrimination, Including Sex-Based Harassment — Students), #5520 (Recess and Play-Based Learning), and #4630 (Family and Medical Leave Act).
The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn by Amber Tucker, seconded by Jessica Loffredo; the minutes record the meeting adjourned at 8:17 p.m. The minutes note that an original must be submitted to the Town Clerk of Rocky Hill within 48 hours in accordance with state statute and that motions should list the maker, seconder and votes of each member.
