HKIS/HKHS staff highlight Marzano Level 1 certification; student reps report activities

Principal Eric Larson introduced the Marzano High Reliability Schools certification program and reported that staff have achieved Level 1 certification.
Lead Teacher Heather Barse and 4th-grade teacher Kathleen Egan described the work and specific accomplishments that led to Level 1 status and identified areas they will address as they pursue Level 2 certification. The minutes note Barse and Egan described examples of the work and then left the meeting at 6:42 PM.
Student representatives Emma Giaccone and Evan Berardino briefed the board on student activities: the New Leadership Academy beginning next week, the Drama Club staging Arsenic and Old Lace, PSAT testing scheduled for Oct. 22, A-Team meetings with Principal Hayward to discuss college planning, field trips and recycling initiatives, and homecoming participation at roughly 80% of the student body.
