Good Hope council unanimously adopts ordinance rezoning 24 acres at 95 Trimble Drive

The Good Hope City Council on Nov. 12 adopted Ordinance No. 023-2024 to rezone 24 acres at 95 Trimble Drive from R1 to Ag.

Council took the procedural step of suspending the rules for reading before considering the ordinance; the motion to suspend reading was made by Council Member Susan Eller and seconded by Taft Dillashaw, and the minutes record the motion as passing on a unanimous roll-call vote. Eric Phillips moved to accept the Planning Commission’s recommendation to rezone the property; Taft Dillashaw seconded and the minutes again record a unanimous roll-call vote in favor of the ordinance.

The meeting minutes record Mayor Jerry Bartlett and Council Members Eric Phillips, Susan Eller and Taft Dillashaw as present for roll call; Council Members Terry Shabel and Greg Brown, City Planner Corey Harbison and City Attorney Rita Nicholas are recorded as absent in the roll call entry. The minutes nonetheless record Greg Brown as seconding the adjournment later in the document. The record therefore contains an internal inconsistency about Brown’s attendance and participation that the minutes do not reconcile.

Earlier in the meeting Taft Dillashaw moved to approve the council minutes from Oct. 28, 2024; Eric Phillips seconded and that motion is recorded as approved by unanimous vote. The council adjourned at 6:43 p.m.; the adjournment motion is recorded as moved by Taft Dillashaw and seconded by Greg Brown.
