Board seeks feasibility work as high school renovation with possible new construction moves forward

At its Sept. 30 special meeting, the Regional School District No. 17 Board reviewed next steps for the high school project, including a renovation approach that could include some new construction.
Interim Superintendent Paul K. Smith and consultant Jack Butkus outlined the options and talked through required steps, including pursuing a space waiver and explaining the basis for any additional square footage. Board members discussed timeline and process questions and the appropriate structure and membership of a feasibility team to guide planning.
By consensus the Board asked Mr. Butkus to provide information on architectural firms capable of advancing the project and to recommend a feasibility-team composition. The minutes note that Mr. Butkus left the meeting at 6:49 p.m.; the Board will await his firm recommendations before making further decisions.
