The school committee received an update on the shared-campus proposal that would involve Whittier Regional Vocational Technical and Northern Essex Community College.
Sean Regan, the recently hired AR liaison working with Northern Essex and Whittier Tech, said he has been conducting outreach, preparing promotional materials and assisting presentations to town bodies. Regan said a memorandum of understanding developed with Northern Essex and Superintendent Lynch outlines cooperative work but does not commit any town to funding or construction.
Regan said the UMass Donahue Institute is conducting a study of the proposal; an interim report has been completed and public listening sessions were run to gather community feedback. He said the final study will be public in a couple of months. Regan and members noted that the Massachusetts School Building Authority planning and funding pipeline meeting in the second week of December is an important near-term milestone.
Committee members thanked Regan for outreach and noted that additional community briefings are planned. Regan said he has already presented to at least one town committee and will continue remote and in-person briefings.
