STEM showcase and summer program report highlight student projects and high participation in Orange

Craig Newton presented a "Glimpse Into the Classroom," describing student-led STEM work at Orange Elementary School: Google Suite and MCAS preparation, projects such as 3D castles, pop-up books, an Oregon Trail game and a paper tower challenge. Newton thanked teachers and administration and said students will present at the MassCue fall conference.
Danielle Boucher reviewed the district's summer program. She reported that 148 students registered for the four-week program and that program staff served 4,736 meals. Boucher said educators were trained to deliver the program content and that the format was run in a camp style.
David Mastrionni reported for OETA that the organization is fully staffed with licensed professionals, noted para professional development and ELA curriculum work and raised concern about budget pressure due to rising health-insurance rates.
