Orange panel approves CAPS agreement adding Wachusett Regional, adopts multiple policies and elects leadership slate

The Orange Elementary School Committee unanimously approved a revised CAPS Collaborative agreement that adds Wachusett Regional and authorized the chair to sign the agreement on behalf of the committee.
Dr. Liz explained that CAPS had been approached by Wachusett Regional and that the CAPS board had approved membership; the collaborative agreement was revised, sent to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) for review, and received legal review for compliance with state regulations. The committee voted to approve the revised agreement on a motion by Crystal Clarke, seconded by Josefa Scherer; roll call was taken by Christine Rodriguez.
The committee also approved a package of policies on second reading upon the recommendation of MASC and the Policy & Communications Subcommittee, including curriculum development (IGA/GD), public comment (BEDH), procedure dissemination (CHA/CHC), student services (IHBA), and homebound instruction (IHBF). Several other policies were presented for first reading.
In governance business, the committee elected officers and approved a slate of subcommittee appointments: Mallory Ellis was nominated and accepted the role of Chair, Josefa Scherer was elected Vice Chair, and Crystal Clarke was elected Secretary. The committee approved a list of subcommittee roles and representatives for leadership, communications & policy, resources & capacity, union and regional representation, bargaining teams, and other assignments.
