Committee approves policy removals, adopts 2025–26 calendar and approves minutes and journal entry

The Orange Elementary School Committee took several formal actions at its March 10 meeting.
Minutes: On a motion by Crystal Clarke, seconded by Jessica Reske, the committee voted to approve the February 10, 2025 minutes; Frank Hains abstained. Roll call was taken by Chair Mallory Ellis.
Policies: The committee presented a set of policies for first read and, separately, voted to remove a set of Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC)‑recommended policies. The policies removed as recorded in the minutes were: IE Organization of Instruction; IGD Curriculum Adoption; IHAI Occupational Education; IHBG‑R Home Schooling; IHBHE‑E Remote Learning Addendum; IL Evaluation of Instructional Programs; and IMA Teaching Activities/Presentations. The motion to remove those policies was made by Josefa Scherer and seconded by Crystal Clarke; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
Calendar: On a motion by Josefa Scherer seconded by Jessica Reske the committee voted unanimously to approve the School Year 2025–2026 district calendar as presented.
Journal entry: On a motion by Crystal Clarke seconded by Jessica Reske the committee voted unanimously to approve the listed journal entry (on file).
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 9:08 p.m. on a motion by Josefa Scherer, seconded by Jessica Reske; the vote was unanimous.
