Otis Cultural Council sets 2026 grant calendar, updates website and finances

At its Aug. 20 meeting the Otis Cultural Council set the calendar for the CY 2026 grant cycle, with an application window of Sept. 2–Oct. 16 and a tutorial for applicants scheduled for Sept. 9. The council set a voting meeting for Nov. 12 at 6:00 p.m.; Jeanne Randorf and Carole Burke will send rejection letters and follow with approval letters two weeks later.
Chair Jeanne Randorf reported she updated the council webpage to inform grant applicants and sent that information to the Otis Observer. The council discussed posting events to the Otis Facebook page and Instagram and confirmed a new council email address (culturalco.otis@gmail.com) for official communications. The council deferred discussion of the concert series until grant applications are reviewed during the grant cycle.
During the financial report, Shanon Albee told the council that recycling checks must be made out to the Town of Otis and that she will clarify payee procedures with the town treasurer. Shanon also reported $2,400 has already been spent from the town account and that the council receives $6,000 from the town and $5,700 from the state. Deb Fogel separately reported that the recycling program is going well. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
