Otis seeks Mass Development technical assistance to assess downtown municipal buildings

The Town of Otis Revitalization Committee on April 28 authorized initial steps to pursue technical assistance through Mass Development to evaluate municipal buildings downtown, including historic Harmony Hall.
Chair Stacey Shultz reported she spoke with Ben Murphy of Mass Development about a service that would analyze available municipal buildings, identify steps needed for progress, and potentially recommend zoning bylaw changes. Shultz said the assessment would focus on the downtown area and would not include the poultry farm.
According to the committee record, Shultz has completed the town grant form to begin the application process. Members agreed to postpone inviting outside organizations until the revitalization committee has more clarity on internal plans and priorities.
Committee members discussed potential collaboration with regional partners such as One Berkshire, Mass Economic Development, and Berkshire Funding Focus for grant opportunities and training, but did not commit to any outside partnerships at the meeting.
The committee plans to present its quarterly executive summary to the Selectboard on May 13. Next committee meeting is scheduled for May 19 at Town Hall.
