Otis revitalization committee reviews 2016 Master Plan, sets 'quick wins' task for next meeting

The committee reviewed progress across several domains — community engagement, infrastructure, housing and environmental conservation — and categorized initiatives as ongoing, completed or in need of further work. Members highlighted recent transportation accomplishments including new sidewalk installations and wildlife crossing signage and flagged items requiring additional follow-up such as a proposed solar bylaw and a planned 65-mile trail near Algerie Road.
Committee members discussed planning and historic-preservation work, including potential tax incentives for redevelopment, architectural design guidelines, and the Historical Commission's ongoing effort to identify and promote historic properties. The group also noted plans to update the town website and to pursue trail access easements as part of broader recreational and connectivity goals.
Several specific project ideas were raised as examples of opportunities reflected in the plan: a proposed new library, interpretive hiking trails within a 100-acre park, and establishing an ice-skating rink. The committee described these as projects that would build on strengths identified in an accompanying PowerPoint working document.
The Revitalization Committee agreed to prepare for the next meeting by identifying prioritized items and potential "quick wins" using slides 37–54 of the working document; members were asked to review those slides in advance. The meeting adjourned at 2:12 p.m. Minutes were submitted by Susan Ebitz, secretary. The committee scheduled its next meeting for April 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Town Hall and recorded future reporting dates to the selectboard through January 2026.
