School Committee names Denise Hardie as representative for contract negotiations

The Farmington River Regional School District School Committee voted on Oct. 6 to nominate Denise Hardie as the committee’s representative for upcoming negotiations with the Farmington River Education Association (FREA). Stacey Schultze made the nomination and Carl Nett seconded; the motion passed with all five members voting in favor.
The committee also nominated Kate Meierdiercks as the alternate representative. Committee members discussed the need to identify an additional alternate should Chair Hardie be absent and asked Superintendent Timothy Lee to engage the towns in the process.
Superintendent Timothy Lee said he will reach out to town managers and attend select board meetings to explain what the committee is looking for in a town representative; he reported he has already received interest from a member of Otis. The committee framed the outreach as part of statutory requirements tied to regional-school governance and collective bargaining preparation.
No negotiation positions or settlement terms were disclosed during the meeting. The committee did not take substantive bargaining actions in open session; rather, it established representation and next steps for opening negotiations.
