Committee flags truck speeds as a priority for Otis revitalization work

At the Town of Otis Revitalization Committee’s first meeting on Monday, Jan. 27, Dr. Tim Wighton flagged the speed of trucks driving through town as a significant concern, and committee members agreed the issue should figure into the group’s planning work.
The committee identified four priority areas for future work: social cohesion, infrastructure, economic opportunity and public health. In discussion, Glenn Steinberg cataloged local strengths and opportunities and encouraged members to think in multiple “lanes” about each priority area.
Members agreed to complete individual SWOT analyses reflecting those priorities and submit them to Secretary Susan Ebitz by Feb. 17 so the committee can collate responses ahead of its next meeting. The committee did not take any formal action at this meeting to change traffic enforcement or infrastructure; such steps would require follow‑up with the Selectboard, the Planning Board or relevant town departments.
The committee scheduled its next meeting for Monday, Feb. 24 at 10:00 AM at Town Hall to review collated input and next steps.
