Public works board signs off on 12 SID credit applications and readies SIP file; veteran exemption clarification sought

Hudson City’s Public Works Board on June 22 confirmed that 12 credit applications for the Sidewalk Improvement District (SID) were approved and circulated the 2026 SIP file to the county, which staff said must be submitted by July 1.

A staff member told the board, “there were a total of 12 uh submitts for credits this year. Um, all the 12 were approved… She's printing out the letters. We'll be signing and send them out this week.” The board agreed to circulate the file for a brief final review before staff transmits a test file and the full submission to the county.

Board members discussed revenue and budget details for the SIP. A circulated summary sheet listed the assessed value at about $315,000 (up from roughly $308,000 last year) and showed annual maintenance fees making up the largest portion, about $229,000. Staff said they had reached out to the county to confirm formatting and plan to submit a small test file before the full upload.

Separately, a board member asked whether the veterans exemption (and, by extension, firefighter exemptions referenced in the discussion) applies to multiple parcels owned by the same individual, noting there are a small number of instances where a veteran appears on county lists as owning properties in different classes. The board member said he had asked the county council president to raise the question with the county attorney and had not yet received a legal clarification.

Board members agreed to give staff a day or two to adjust the circulated SIP file before final submission and to provide another printed copy to Gary for records.

The meeting then returned to the sidewalk procurement discussion and later adjourned.
