The Otis Recreation Commission discussed plans for a community Trunk-or-Treat on Nov. 1, proposing a 5–7 p.m. event that would use the Ridge parking lot and include a haunted lodge run by the commission.
Chair Dana Pustinger said she has checked with Eric and received permission to use the Ridge parking lot and that the commission plans to operate the haunted lodge again. Board members Robin Martin and Michael Cohen said they plan to enter decorated trunks for the event.
Commissioners placed the proposed date on the agenda for the next Selectboard meeting for approval. The group identified specific logistics and assignments: Dana will create a Facebook event and a volunteer sign-up form, order lawn signs, ask Brandi to provide outdoor heaters, and contact the Department of Transportation about using a light tower. The commission said it also needs judges and will confirm whether the Police Department and the PTA will again donate gift cards for trunk prizes.
If the Selectboard approves the date, the commission will proceed with volunteer recruitment and signage to publicize the event.
