The Otis Select Board met Oct. 22 and approved minutes, decided against changing winter hours at the town transfer station, and appointed members to a new Library Building Committee as well as to the Council on Aging.
Terry Gould, acting chair of the Otis Select Board, called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The board approved minutes from Oct. 8 (as amended) and Oct. 16 (as written). Payroll and vendor warrants were placed on the table for signature.
The board considered a proposal to shift Thursday winter hours at the transfer station from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. to 9 a.m.–5 p.m. A staff member identified only as Matt said he had worked a recent Thursday and counted more than 15 people between 5 and 6 p.m. Select Board member Eric Kreis recommended keeping the hours as they are; the board agreed and directed Kreis to add lighting at the site.
The Select Board discussed forming a Library Building Committee to lead design work for a proposed new library and appointed Sue Brofman, Tom Burke and Stephanie Skinner to the committee. The board said it hopes to recruit additional volunteers for the committee.
The board reviewed an application for the Council on Aging and appointed Kendra Rybacki to a term ending June 30, 2026. Members also said they will post current vacancies on the Finance Committee.
Select Board member Brandi Page updated the board on potential items for a special town meeting; she also reported there was no new information from the School Committee on the RDA. The board acknowledged an updated Planning Board fee schedule forwarded by the Planning Board chair and indicated it was acceptable.
The board noted upcoming community events, including a Trunk‑or‑Treat scheduled for Saturday from 6–8 p.m. and a Veterans Day brunch at the school on Nov. 12 at 9:00 a.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
