The Rocky Hill Board of Education met Aug. 22, 2024, at Town Hall Council Chambers and, by unanimous votes, approved prior meeting minutes, authorized recommended budget transfers for June 30, 2024, and appointed a new principal for Myrtle H. Stevens School.
Amber Tucker moved to approve the minutes of four prior Board meetings (the June 20, 2024 executive session; the June 20, 2024 Board meeting; the June 25, 2024 special meeting; and the June 25, 2024 facilities committee meeting). Maria Mennella seconded the motion, which was recorded as "FAVOR: ALL MOTION CARRIED." The board had a quorum and listed nine members present.
Tucker also moved to approve the consent calendar for Aug. 22, 2024, specifically recommending budget transfers for the fiscal period ending June 30, 2024. Jessica Loffredo seconded that motion; the board approved it unanimously. The minutes record the transfers as recommended but do not specify dollar amounts.
On personnel business, Tucker moved, and Loffredo seconded, to appoint Bethany Calado to the position of principal of Myrtle H. Stevens School, with an effective date of Oct. 1, 2024. The motion carried with all members voting in favor.
The meeting form lists Christine Flynn as recording secretary and notes that Connecticut General Statutes require that original meeting minutes be submitted to the Town Clerk within 48 hours after adjournment. Assistant Superintendent Charles Zettergren, Assistant Superintendent Wendy Durand, Assistant Superintendent Amy Stevenson and Director of Facilities Ron Lamontagne were listed as also present.
Amber Tucker moved to adjourn the meeting; Jennifer Baron-Morfea seconded. The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
