Town clerk urges voters to use early voting, outlines mail‑in deadlines ahead of Sept. 3 primary

Phy emphasized that Aug. 24 is also the deadline to register to vote or change party affiliation and that those actions must be completed by 5 p.m. that day.
Phy said mail‑in ballot requests must be filed by Monday, Aug. 26 at 5 p.m., and that ballots returned by mail must be delivered to the town clerk’s office (they cannot be dropped directly at polling locations) and will be logged and delivered to the polls by staff. Phy advised residents with questions about state‑level ballot content to consult the Secretary of State’s office or the Secretary’s website via links on the town website.
Polling for the Sept. 3 primary will be held at the senior center from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Phy encouraged voters who have moved since requesting ballots earlier in the year to contact the clerk’s office promptly to ensure ballots are sent to the correct address.
What voters should do: Early‑vote in person beginning Aug. 24, register or change party affiliation by 5 p.m. on Aug. 24 if needed, request a mail‑in ballot by Aug. 26 at 5 p.m., and return completed mail ballots to the town clerk’s office no later than 8 p.m. on Sept. 3.
