Austin Rovenstine presented the first reading of Ordinance 26-489, an ordinance that would prohibit the use of public records for commercial purposes. Rovenstine said he also drafted a second version of the ordinance that would include a provision forfeiting an individual’s right to request public records if the individual is found to have used those records for commercial purposes.
Council scheduled a second reading of the ordinance for April 1 and indicated the next meeting would include a request for adoption following that reading. No vote or adoption was recorded on March 4; the item remains in the ordinance process.
