The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors voted on a range of routine and programmatic items on April 9, approving budgets, grants, transfers and procurement steps needed for county operations and services.
Key approvals included the Northern Neck Regional Jail FY27 budget totaling $14,488,460 (the board recorded no required local contribution), multiple supplemental appropriations to the Sheriff's Department and Anti-Litter Committee (including DEQ competitive and non-competitive litter grants), transfers to cover EMS and school capital invoices, and small supplemental appropriations for staff training and office supplies. The Board also authorized an Invitation for Bids for the Hampton Hall entrance construction, approved an updated Memorandum of Understanding between the Board and the School Board on financial services, and approved agreements enabling statewide mutual aid through VDEM and a clinical training partnership with VCU Health System for paramedic students.
Actions from closed session included migrating the county's emergency notifications to Everbridge at a cost of $7,080 for the first 18 months and $7,080 annually thereafter, and approving a $12,742 HVAC replacement with Comfort Consultants. The Board authorized a $911.31 refund for a Conditional Use Permit withdrawal and approved a $12,290.38 transfer for a Stantec invoice with a handwritten check authorized to Stantec.
Most motions passed unanimously by recorded vote (Aye: James Long, James Brann, Chip Williams, Al Fisher and Keith Harris). Items requiring staff follow-up were noted and assigned to the appropriate departments during the meeting.
