Dickson County Commission approves copier lease, two rezones and road maintenance

CHARLOTTE, Tenn. — The Dickson County Commission meeting on Feb. 19, 2019, approved a series of routine but binding measures, including a five-year lease for office copiers, two zoning-map amendments, and an extension of county road maintenance.
The commission voted unanimously to authorize a contract with Dickson Office Supply for the lease of copiers with a 60-month term. The motion was made by Commissioner Randy Simpkins and seconded by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain.
Commissioners also approved two zoning map changes under Article V, Section 5.020 of the Zoning Resolution of Dickson County. One resolution rezoned a 28-acre portion of Parcel 085.00 on Tax Map 129 from R-1 (Residential) to R-2 (Planned Unit Development); Commissioner Carl Buckner moved the measure and Commissioner Dwight McIllwain seconded it. A second resolution rezoned a 219.7-acre portion of the same parcel from R-1 to R-2; Buckner moved that measure and Commissioner David Shepard seconded it. Both measures passed by unanimous aye voice votes.
The commission also approved a resolution to extend the length of Mary Alice Road maintained by the Dickson County Highway Department by 0.15 miles from its intersection with Highway 70. Commissioner Randy Simpkins moved the measure; Commissioner David Shepard seconded it. That measure passed unanimously.
Under other business, the commission approved quarterly financial reports for all funds (except schools) and for all school funds ending Dec. 31, 2018. County Mayor Bob Rial reviewed a five-year school revenue comparison and explained the maintenance-of-effort (MOE) calculation the county uses for budgeting.
County Clerk Luanne Greer submitted notary applications for a list of residents; a motion by Commissioner Buford Reed, seconded by Commissioner Becky Spicer, approved the named notaries by unanimous voice vote.
The meeting ended after brief announcements: the next regular session is scheduled for March 18, 2019, at 7 p.m.; Commissioner David Shepard invited the public to a Habitat for Humanity 50th-anniversary luncheon on March 14, and Commissioner Dwight McIllwain invited residents to Jake’s Day Out at Creekwood on March 9. The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
