Carlisle City Manager Chris Lohr announced on Oct. 28 that the city received a NatureWorks grant reimbursing $56,841 for improvements at Lions Park.
Lohr said the grant, a 75/25 reimbursement award, will require a city match of $18,947 and is intended to pay for new playground equipment, paving of the parking lot and an ADA-compliant walkway connecting the parking area to the playground. "The City will be eligible for reimbursement of $56,841," Lohr said, and he congratulated Mrs. Geres for preparing the application.
The announcement came during the City Manager's report at the Carlisle City Council meeting. Lohr said final timing depends on paperwork from the state and the city’s signing of required documents. Council did not take a formal vote on accepting the grant during the meeting; staff said they will return with paperwork and scheduling information once state authorization and reimbursement timing are confirmed.
The grant is intended to address accessibility and play-area upgrades at Lions Park. Council members praised the award during general reports and encouraged staff to move forward once the state grant agreement is finalized.
