During the Jan. 14 meeting the city manager presented an administrative update describing steps to strengthen operations.
He said he is still building his understanding of the city’s operations and has met with council members, department heads and community leaders. The manager said he has reviewed planning staff activity and business contracts, is considering accounting-software options, has implemented an approval process for spending, and plans an audit focused on efficiency. He also reported the city is recruiting for an assistant city clerk and a clerk of courts and intends to meet with an external auditor to review the budget and related financial documents.
Councilmembers did not take formal action on these administrative items at the meeting; they were recorded as informational in the minutes. The city manager was asked to obtain a laptop quote for the proposed Public Works director office, with a permanent decision to follow at a later meeting.
