Bourne School Committee elects Donel Beals as chair, reorganizes leadership

At its May 7 meeting the Bourne School Committee elected Donel Beals chair and named Kerrie Scofield vice chair and Kendellynn Gagne secretary; the committee also assigned subcommittee chairs and publicly thanked outgoing members Emily Berry and Maureen Fuller.
Donel Beals was elected chair of the Bourne School Committee at the committee’s May 7 regular meeting, replacing Emily Berry. The nomination by Emily Berry was seconded by Kerrie Scofield and approved by voice vote, 8–0–0.
Beals accepted the gavel and presided over further reorganization: he nominated Kerrie Scofield as vice chair (seconded by Emily Berry) and Kendellynn Gagne as secretary (seconded by Kathleen Quintal); both motions passed by voice vote, 8–0–0. Beals then appointed Kendellynn Gagne to chair the Budget and Facilities subcommittee and the Navigator Awards; Kerrie Scofield to chair the Curriculum subcommittee; and Kathleen Quintal to chair the Policy subcommittee.
Outgoing Chair Emily Berry and committee member Maureen Fuller were recognized during the meeting. Paul MacMaster, a former committee member, praised both for “dedication, patience, and class,” citing their long service and focus on what’s best for Bourne students. The committee listed several items for future agendas, including the Navigator Awards and onboarding of new members. The regular session adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
