The Town Manager presented a draft public-private contract with Consolidated Communications (CCI) to advance a broadband project that would expand internet service in parts of Stonington.
Selectman Travis Fifield said he had not received the contract and asked for time to review it; the Town Manager resent the document during the meeting and said Consolidated staff (Jeff Nevins) and the town’s technical contacts had already discussed the project extensively. Board members flagged specific contract language related to unexpected charges and site-work responsibilities and requested clarification from Consolidated and legal counsel before authorizing any signature.
No contract authorization vote occurred at the meeting. The Town Manager said the company would provide a timeline and the town would circulate the contract to members and legal counsel for further review.
