Councilmember Dean moved to nominate Hollay Anderson for mayor, with Councilmember Baldwin seconding; the roll call vote carried 5–1 (Yes: Stanton, Baldwin, Anderson, Clark, Dean; No: Gardner). Anderson then assumed control of the meeting. Later the council nominated Lauren Stanton for mayor pro‑tem (motion by Baldwin, second by Clark); that nomination also carried 5–1 with the same roll‑call split.
The votes followed a formal nomination process on the council agenda. Public commenter Gary Medler told the council he was disappointed public comment on the selections was scheduled after the votes and alleged the decision had been made privately beforehand. The council did not record a formal response to that allegation in the minutes.
Outgoing Mayor Pro‑Tem Stanton reflected on serving as mayor over the past year and thanked the community for the opportunity to lead during a challenging period. Newly seated Mayor Anderson commended the recent Veterans Day observance and praised Councilmember Baldwin’s work on parks projects.
The council’s leadership changes were procedural actions taken by roll call vote during the meeting; no ordinance or policy change accompanied the selections. The council adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
