Treasurer Tom Lindner reported on Jan. 27 that financing is nearly finalized for a new fire truck and a brush truck, but delivery timelines have shifted: the fire truck delivery was delayed from February to August, with the first payment due when the truck is delivered, while the brush truck is expected to arrive in April.
Lindner said the board’s recommendation is to complete financing for both vehicles together in August to reduce monthly interest costs. The board did not vote on financing at the meeting; members discussed timing and asked that the brush truck financing be reviewed in April closer to delivery.
On the related firehouse project, officials said several architectural and engineering firms have expressed interest and that final proposals are due to the Fire House Building Committee within the next month. First payments for the project are expected to begin in April at an estimated $40,000 per month. No decision has been made about whether to build on the existing site; if a new site is proposed, the town will need to hold a town meeting before moving forward.
Board members discussed sequencing of vehicle financing and building payments to limit interest costs and to align capital expenditures with delivery schedules. No formal appropriation or bond authorization occurred at the meeting; the board slated future review and coordination with the Fire House Building Committee.
