Deep River Community Health Committee reviews finances, approves minutes and routine motions

At its Jan. 6 meeting the Deep River Community Health Committee approved December minutes and routine motions, heard a treasurer's report showing a total of $158,268 and that the committee has supported 26 families year-to-date, and set its next meeting for Feb. 3.
Vice Chairperson Lori Gregan called the Deep River Community Health Committee to order at 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 6 at the Richard H. Smith Town Hall. The committee approved the minutes from December after a motion by Nancy McGee and a second from Lauren Nichols.
The treasurer reported combined account balances of $158,268 as of Dec. 22, 2025, including $15,843.66 in checking and $142,424.34 in a money market account earning 3.75 percent. December expenses totaled $2,300.05, which included four oil deliveries and an Eversource bill. Year-to-date expenses were $14,305.31; year-to-date revenue was $35,220.22. The committee reported it has supported 26 families so far this year with payments for electricity, fuel, groceries and housing totaling $7,227.51.
Committee fundraising highlights included $32,324.16 raised so far from the annual giving campaign and donations from 25 businesses totaling $16,508.16. Noted donors included Liberty Band/Rotary/Community Foundation ($6,674.49), the Lions Club ($3,000) and Adams ($1,083.67). The committee said 12 individuals donated more than $200 and two individuals contributed $1,000 each.
A motion to accept the secretary's report, moved by Lori Gregan and seconded by Emily Chase, was approved. The meeting adjourned at 8:10 p.m. following a motion by Lauren Nichols and seconded by Nancy McGee. The committee scheduled its next meeting for Feb. 3, 2026.
The meeting minutes list Betsy Scholfield as secretary and reflect that Jackie Calamari and Joyce Berardis were absent.
