Monica McNally, a selectman and chair of the Town of Darien Great Island Advisory Committee, called a special meeting to order Jan. 8, 2025, and said the committee is wrapping up Phase I of its study and hopes Phase II will be completed "by the end of July." The committee then reviewed a draft Great Island vision plan prepared by consultants from Reed Hilderbrand.
Consultant Beka Sturges shared her screen and walked committee members through sections of the draft plan, saying the final version of the report is due soon and that she will provide a link to the document. Sturges asked committee members to submit their comments by Monday so those comments could be incorporated into the plan the following week.
Sturges also announced that planner Ben Margolis has shifted firms and said she would share the biography of the person who will assume his role on the project. The meeting record does not provide further details about the personnel change beyond that notice.
There were no public comments during the allotted public-comment period. Lori Bora moved to adjourn; Jeffrey Taebel seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 8:04 p.m. The meeting minutes were filed by Rosemarie Lombardi, Telesco Secretarial Services. The committee did not record roll-call votes in the meeting transcript; recorded timelines and deadlines above reflect statements as noted in the meeting record.
