Planning Board to pursue grants and study Rte. 20 corridor for housing and economic development

Members of the Planning Board said the recent Town Meeting discussion pointed to a need for the Planning Board to advance economic development work along Route 20 and further consider housing expansion in Village Districts.
Member Kirsten Roopenian said Town Meeting alluded to the board beginning work on economic development and the Route 20 corridor. Director Adam Burney said he hopes to secure grant funding to support a Community Planning Phase and to study Village District expansion with an emphasis on housing coupled with economic development in the corridor.
Staff also announced related public engagement opportunities: a rail-trail wayfinding forum planned for May 26 at the Goodnow Library and an Open Space and Recreation Plan Open House on May 28 at the Fairbank Community Center. The board confirmed its next meeting for May 27.
